Period Party

We’re partying for a cause, a bloody good cause: Menstrual equity for all who menstruate.

Join De Lune and Platform on Saturday, May 4 at 8:00 pm at The Eaton DC for Period Party, a night of advocacy and fun to support the Menstrual Equity for All Act of 2019.

We’re coming together because it’s time to stop treating menstrual health care as a luxury. Congresswoman Grace Meng’s Menstrual Equity for All Act of 2019 is the first comprehensive bill of its kind and would, among its provisions, ensure free menstrual hygiene products are available to students, low-income individuals, homeless individuals, people who are incarcerated, those working for large employers, and in all public federal buildings (looking at you, U.S. Capitol).

The attire for the night is wear what makes you feel confident. But the ~vibe~ of the night is cocktail attire-light: So a little fun and a little dressy but not fancy (we’re still grassroots).

She is the Founder and Executive Director of PERIOD (period.org), an organization she founded at the age of 16. Since 2014 they have addressed over 500,000 periods and registered over 300 campus chapters. In 2017, Nadya ran for office in Cambridge, MA. While she did not win, her campaign team made historic waves in mobilizing young people on the ground and at polls. Nadya is the Chief Brand Officer of JUV Consulting, a Generation Z marketing agency based in NYC. Christi Owiye

Christi is a media communications professional using her skills to advance social justice. During her undergraduate career at the University of South Florida, Christi involved herself with various advocacy groups on campus, including the Black Student Union and the Black Female Development Circle, pressing her alma mater to make steps towards a more inclusive campus culture, including an installation to represent Black fraternities and sororities and townhall meetings between the Provost and President and Black students on campus. Christi relocated to Washington, D.C. to further her advocacy work and currently serves as the Digital Communications Coordinator of Vital Voices, a non-profit organization invested in developing women leaders worldwide. Christi also serves as a volunteer host for the PlatformTV series, hosting Platform's web-series on policy packs and current events.
